There is a new triennium starting for Mothers’ Union in 2019 so this came from our central office at Mary Sumner House on 8th October - “If you haven't already heard, we were delighted to announce on Monday (live via Facebook) that our new Worldwide President is Mrs Sheran Harper.
Sheran is from Guyana, part of the Anglican Church in the Province of the West Indies and has made history as the first non-British Worldwide President of Mothers’ Union. From the beginning of 2019, Sheran will lead our newly elected Board of Trustees made up of 11 trustees – five from the provinces within Britain & Ireland; and six from the rest of the world.”
These elections were undertaken under the revised Constitution, approved by the Privy Council in April, 2018, designed to ensure that the governance meets the latest standards required, and that the Board truly reflects the global nature of the movement. “We are extremely excited with the results. Not only will Sheran bring her global expertise, but we have a Board that is rich in diversity with eight different nationalities and also for the first time includes a man,” says Mothers’ Union’s Chief Executive, Bev Jullien. There is more about the appointment and a video message from Sheran on the Mothers’ Union website.
Sheila is collecting subs this month - £22 this year. Please remember to put your money in an envelope. Joan will be collecting for the Christmas meal also £22. Friends welcome. There will not be a meeting in November because of the Floral Art night in the Hall so our next meeting will be in February.
God Bless You All...
